Portia Newman

Portia is an educator and Founder of PN Consulting. She is committed to addressing issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and opportunity through a racial equity lens. Through timely, relevant and radical efforts, she supports organizations with developing strategy and leaders. She earned her BA in Education from the UNC Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) before earning her M.Ed in Instructional Leadership and Education Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Currently, she is a PhD candidate in Ed Leadership, Policy and Justice at Virginia Commonwealth University researching the influence of race, gender and culture on leadership skills and practice. Portia is a cousin, a reader and believes in the possibilities of the future for our kids. This is evident in her leadership praxis and her responsibility to create space and opportunity for others.
